Indian Fashion

I am finally back in NYC from an unforgettable traveling journey! I visited India, Thailand, Germany, and Italy for the first time.  It was an amazing experience to see and experience different cultures, foods, and great sights of history in just 2 weeks.  The main reason for this trip was for one of our friend's wedding in Goa, India.  Of course I had my outfits ready before I had the Visa or vaccines (FYI: Hep A and Hep B hurt a lot!).  Luckily, I didn't have to spend one dime on the outfits because an awesome coworker of mine lent them to me.

At first I called them Saris/Sarees.  Not until I got to see all of the beautiful and colorful outfits that the bride and the wedding guests wore, did I understand the difference between a Sari, a Salwar Kameez, and a Lahenga.  For more details on their differences, check out utsavfashion.com.  In a nutshell...a Sari is a wrapped cloth around the body.  A Salwar Kameez is a one piece dress that can be worn with pajama like trousers that are wide at the top and narrow at the ankle.  A Lehenga is a skirt with a top and a scarf.  Numerous types of Lehenga designs exist today..see here for their descriptions/differences.

The most modern and best quality outfits are made out of raw silk.  These are also the most expensive ones.  Get inspired by these...
